Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater in 1980

This is a picture of the OMNIMAX projector at the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater (the technology is now known as IMAX). The projector is underneath the auditorium seating area. When the movie is ready to be shown, the giant projector is lifted up to the floor of the auditorium, where it projects upwards. The film-guide rollers give you a clue how wide the film itself is. Behind me to my right you can see where the big spools of film are placed. Keep in mind this picture was taken in 1980 and I haven’t seen what has changed since.

My camera was a Nikon FM2 with 28mm wide-angle lens. A staff member took the picture of me.
